Fairfield bar shooting: Suspect indicted on multiple felony charges

The suspect in a shooting at LugNutz bar in Fairfield has been indicted on multiple felony charges, including murder.
One person died and two more were injured in the shooting that happened there Nov. 7. Miguel Wesley Galliher, 20, of Hamilton was indicted Friday by a Butler County grand jury for murder with a gun specification, six counts of felonious assault, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon and illegal possession of a firearm in liquor permit premises.
He is schedule to be arraigned Thursday in Butler County Common Pleas Court.
Patrons along Main Street in Hamilton have more parking options
Growing vibrancy of Hamilton’s Main Street business corridor and downtown area, with more businesses opening and people living in apartments, is making parking harder to find. But in an important way, that’s a good thing, said Dan Bates, president and CEO of the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.
In a recent move to ease parking, Hamilton worked with Telhio Credit Union to make available about 20 spaces in its parking lot at 601 Park Ave. after the credit union closes for the evening. Officials are working with a nearby bank on a similar arrangement.
For a while, Hamilton City Schools have made available parking at their Miami School, 140 Ross Ave., after it closes. There also are city parking lots in several areas along Main.
German Village Christmas Walk celebrates 30 years of holiday activities

Guests will enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, entertainment, and live reindeer as part of the annual German Village Christmas Walk from noon to 5 p.m. Sun., Dec. 5. This year’s all-outdoor event will include stops on porches, strolls and activities at venues throughout German Village.
It is a free, family friendly event.
“It’s going to be an all-outdoor event this year. There will be more decorations outside, and a lot of the different porches will be decorated,” said Ann Dennett, longtime chair of the German Village Christmas Walk.
High-accident intersection on Ohio 4 in Fairfield to be realigned

The Michael Lane/Camelot Drive intersection at Ohio 4 will be safer next year, but construction won’t start until the spring.
The estimated $1.3 million project will realign the intersection on the north end of Jungle Jim’s will also make it a quicker experience for motorists as it will remove at least one phase of the traffic signal.
City Council approved a contract with Barret Paving to improve the intersection that’s seen nearly four dozen accidents from 2014 to 2016 because of unprotected left-hand turns, and motorists not recognizing when to yield. Nearly half of those accidents resulted in injuries, according to police.
Man pleads guilty to misdemeanor charges in Middletown shooting incident
A 20-year-old Middletown man, originally facing a felony charge for apparently shooting out the window of an apartment last month during an argument with the driver of a car, has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges.
Jaden Thomas was in Middletown Municipal Court on Friday where a preliminary hearing was scheduled on charges of felonious assault, assault, inducting panic and pointing or firing a weapon in the city limits for the incident that happened on Oct. 27.
Officers were called to 702 Charles St. about 11:45 a.m. for a person reportedly shooting from the window of an apartment building. A perimeter was set up around the building with a plumbing business at the street level and apartments above by the department’s Special Response Team.

On-ramp to I-275 in Fairfield to be closed for road work
Drivers on Wednesday should be aware that the westbound on-ramp to Interstate 275 from Winton/South Gilmore Road in Fairfield will be closed in the evening and overnight.
Officials said in a release the ramp at Exit 39 will be closed at 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday.
“The closure is for work being performed by Barrett Paving to install guardrail and remove the temporary concrete barrier associated with the permanent addition of a second lane to the westbound on ramp to 275,” the release said. “Final pavement is planned for the next couple of weeks if conditions allow.”
